Overall project objective:
The overall objective is to strengthen institutional and operational capacity of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development responsible for wine sector in order to ensure the implementation of EU legislation.

Project purpose:
Upgrade and improvement of the capacity and expertise of relevant administrative staff of MAFRD in implementing national protected designations of origin (PDO) and protected geographical indications (PGI) legislation.

Component I “ANALYSING THE LEGAL FRAMEWORK”
• The capacity of administrative staff of Wine Department within the MAFRD will be strengthened in order to be able to set up PGO and PGI legislation for wine

Component II “DRAFTING OF LEGISLATION”
• Proposal for national PDO and PGI legislation will be drafted

Component III “INSTITUTIONAL TRAININGS”
• The administrative staff of the Wine Department will be educated for the implementation of PDG and PGI system for wine

Component IV “INFORMATION WORKSHOPS”
• The parties concerned (CIVE, CAEI, producers, associations of producers etc. ) got acquainted with their obligations and rights arising from new national PDO and PGI legislation harmonised with EU legislation
