30.09.2011

Minister Blerand Stavileci and his team visited AMA on Friday morning. During the implementation of the last Twinning project, which was managed by AMA international cooperation, a close relationship developed between the agricultural administrations of Kosovo and Austria.

In a short speech, Mr Stavileci mentioned that today, agriculture is considered as a priority topic in Kosovo, since about 200,000 households rely on agriculture to make a living. Kosovo supports farmers in increasing agricultural production in order to be less dependent on imports. The budget for the Agricultural and Rural Development sector will be increased over the coming years.

Experts from AMA and the Austrian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management gave presentations on the AMA Paying Agency, the Austrian Rural Development Programme and the marketing and promotion activities of Agrarmarkt Austria Marketing GmbH.

Mr Stavileci thanked the Austrian Twinning experts for their kind cooperation and was looking forward to further cooperation in the follow-up project, scheduled to start in November 2011 in Prishtina.
